SaySpark exists to lower barriers to robotics education — accessibility is part of that mission, not an afterthought. Voice-first interaction is itself an accessibility feature: children who can't yet read menus or type can still fully drive the learning experience.
We aim for the sayspark.ca website to conform to WCAG 2.1 level AA. As pre-release software under active development, we are not yet fully conformant — this page describes honestly where we are.
Semantic HTML with labeled form controls and ARIA labels on interactive elements; keyboard-operable navigation and forms; alternative text on meaningful images; respect for prefers-reduced-motion (animations, parallax, and ambient video loops are disabled or stilled for users who request reduced motion); a light, high-contrast color system; and video content that never autoplays with sound.
The embedded 3D simulator is a visual, canvas-based experience and is not currently meaningful to screen readers — we treat it as a supplementary demo, and no essential information is available only inside it. Demo videos do not yet have captions (their narration is also presented as on-page text). The desktop and mobile apps are earlier in their accessibility journey than the website.
